Applying for an MBA or Master

There are only three steps to enrollment at the IGC:

Get in contact with your program coordinator and have any questions you may have answered.

2. Collect your documents (and if necessary have them translated).

3. Apply Online.

General admission requirements

Required documents

For admission we require the following qualifications and documentations, which you can send during or after your application - note: all documents must be provided in German or English:

  • proof of previous university degree(s) and transcripts (1)
  • a copy of your passport or birth certificate (1)
  • curriculum vitae (1)
  • proof of English language proficiency (i.e. TOEFL, IELTS) (not for Cultural Management) (2)
  • a letter of recommendation by a university lecturer or employer (not for the part-time programs) (2)
  • letter of motivation (not for the Flex part-time programs) (2)
  • passport photograph (2)
  • proof of practical knowledge or work experience (1)
  • original APS-Certificate (for Chinese and Vietnamese applicants only) (1)

Important note: New Academic Evaluation Centre (APS) for Indian applicants
From 1st November 2022, APS certificates will be a mandatory part of the documents to be submitted with your visa application.

Original degrees or certified copies of original documents are required. If you submit regular copies along with your application, you will have to present the original documents for enrollment. Documents other than in English or German have to be translated into English or German by a recognized translator for the application.

Online Application

Applications should be submitted via our online-application page. If you have any questions about the application process, are not able to apply online, or if technical problems occur, please contact our application team.

Submitting documents

If some of your documents are not be available at the time of application, you may hand them in later. Please make sure to submit these missing documents during enrollment at the latest. Please note that applications without supporting documents cannot be processed. You may also upload missing documents over the web-form if you have already applied.

Waiting List

The International Graduate Center may accept applications past the regular application deadline. If this applies, your application will be placed on a waiting list.
Within a period of three to four weeks after receipt of your application, you will be informed by e-mail about your admission or denial. Please note that applications can only be evaluated if they are complete.

Visa

If you are applying from abroad and you have received an admission for one of our programs, please make sure to take care of the visa procedure right away. It may take weeks before you will get an appointment at the German embassy.

Program specific requirements

In addition to the general requirements, special pre-requisites based on program of choice are listed below:

Master in European Studies

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, economics, politics, public law or similar (240 ECTS or less under conditions)
  • Min. of one year of postgraduate working experience
  • Letter of motivation
  • Letter of recommendation from an employer / university teacher
  • Curriculum vitae
  • High English proficiency (IELTS 6.0, or TOEFL iBT min. 80)
  • Funding for tuition fees and living costs (per month approx. 850€ plus health insurance costs)

International MBA

For the specialisations: Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Finance & Investments, International Marketing, Management in Emerging Economies, International & Sustainable Management, and Human Resource Management

  • Bachelor's degree in a business related subject (210 ECTS)
  • Min. of two years of postgraduate work experience
  • Letter of motivation
  • Curriculum vitae
  • High English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 points or TOEFL iBT min. 90)
  • Funding for tuition fees and living costs (per month approx. 850€ plus health insurance costs)

* Please note that a business degree is required. If you have a technical background please apply for our MBA in European/Asian Management program. Exceptions might be made for applicants with long working experience in the management field.

MBA in International Tourism Management

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 10% business administration (210 ECTS)
  • Min. of one year of postgraduate work experience
  • Letter of motivation
  • Curriculum vitae
  • High English proficiency (IELTS 6.0, or TOEFL iBT min. 80)
  • Funding for tuition fees and living costs (per month approx. 850€ plus health insurance costs)

MBA in European/Asian Management

  • Bachelor´s degree / primarily non-economic/non-business-related (210 ECTS)
  • Min. of one year of postgraduate work experience
  • Letter of motivation
  • Curriculum vitae
  • High English proficiency (IELTS 6,5 or Toefl iBT min. 90)
  • Funding for tuition fees and living costs (per month approx. 850€ plus health insurance costs)

MBA in Global Management

  • Bachelor's degree in a business-related subject (210 ECTS)
  • Min. of one year of postgraduate work experience
  • Letter of motivation
  • Curriculum vitae
  • High English proficiency (IELTS 6,5 or Toefl iBT min. 90)
  • Funding for tuition fee and living costs (per month approx. 850€ plus health insurance costs)

Master in Aeronautical Management

  • Aviation-related first degree
  • Min. of one year of postgraduate work experience (as a pilot, in aircraft maintenance or in the aviation industry)
