Explanations
The figures are average values.
Tuition fees: Typical ranges for international students in English-language programs
Higher education in Germany: Germany has both public and private universities. The majority of public universities are state-funded. However, certain continuing education, master's, and MBA programs at public institutions may still apply tuition fees, such as at IGC – Hochschule Bremen.
Higher education in the United Kingdom: There are public and private universities in the United Kingdom. Unlike in Germany, nearly all British universities are legally independent entities that are considered public if they receive government funding. Private universities are primarily funded by tuition fees and do not accept government subsidies.
Higher education in the USA: The USA also has public (state) and private higher education institutions that differ in terms of ownership, funding, size, and tuition fees. Public universities are funded by states, are generally larger, and are less expensive. Private universities, on the other hand, are often smaller and significantly more expensive, but are highly renowned.
Higher education in Canada: The Canadian higher education landscape is predominantly state-run, but universities are highly autonomous. Compared to the US, there are very few private universities in Canada.
Fixed costs: Mandatory semester or service fees (excluding rent and food)
Living expenses: Realistic average values, including rent, food, and (if applicable) transportation
