Are you studying at IGC in Bremen and want to learn German to better navigate your daily life in Germany? Then our German course is just right for you! Starting in October, you can learn German for free at IGC—right on campus and together with your fellow students.
Introduction to German — from the very beginning
These courses are designed for beginners with little to no knowledge of German. With the guidance of an experienced teacher, you will learn the fundamentals of the German language and have the opportunity to apply what you have learned in real-life situations.
It's not just about grammar and vocabulary. You'll also learn important idioms and phrases that will help you while shopping, at a restaurant, on public transportation, and when talking to others.
The course consists of 1.5 hours per week for 15 weeks. Additionally, plan to spend about one more hour per week on homework. This will allow you to reinforce what you’ve learned in class and improve your German skills gradually.
Two A1.1 courses
Two A1.1 courses are available at the start of the program:
- Course 1: Starts in late October 2026 and meets every Tuesday expected at 5:00 p.m.
- Course 2: Starts in late November 2026 and meets every Thursday expected at 5:00 p.m.
Both courses are in-person at the IGC building.
Class size is limited to 20 participants per course. This ensures there’s plenty of time for individual questions, exercises, and active discussions.
What happens next?
Would you like to continue after the A1.1 course? We've got you covered! Two follow-up courses are planned. They will start in Spring 2027. This way, you can continue developing your German skills and building on what you learned in the first course.
Free of charge – with a small deposit
Participation in the German course is free for IGC students, but a small deposit is required. To ensure that registered spots are used, a deposit of €50 per person is required at the time of registration. If you attend at least 80% of the sessions, you will receive a full refund of the deposit after the course ends.
This policy is intended to ensure that the limited spots in the course are used by students who wish to attend regularly.
