We mourn the loss of our long-time colleague and friend Prof. Dr. Christian Schuchardt, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 23, 2025.

"We were deeply shocked to hear of the unexpected death of our colleague Prof. Dr. Christian Schuchardt. As a long-standing member of the Board of the International Graduate Center, Director of an MBA program and lecturer in our programs, he played a key role in shaping the positive image of our executive education institute for almost two decades. With his work, Christian was not only a valuable part of the IGC team for many of us, but also a valued person and friend," says Prof. Dr. Lars Büttner, Dean of IGC. Christian Schuchardt was a member of the IGC Board from 2008 to 2024.

"We are deeply saddened by this news," says Prof. Dr. Konrad Wolf, Rector of Hochschule Bremen. "Our condolences go out to his family, friends and colleagues. Christian Schuchardt was a formative figure for Faculty 1 - School of International Business and the International Graduate Center (IGC) at HSB".

Prof. Dr. Peter Laudi, Dean of the School of International Business: "We are deeply saddened by the sudden death of our colleague Prof. Dr. Christian Schuchardt. He had been a professor of Business Administration, especially International Marketing, at our School since 1996 and had shaped our School and University, in particular its international profile, in many ways. As Vice Dean, he was a member of the Dean's Office for ten years and successfully steered the fortunes of the School. Furthermore, he was also founder of the Center for Intercultural Management & Diversity (ZIM). He leaves a great void in our faculty and we will miss him as a person, colleague, and friend.”

Prof. Dr. Christian Schuchardt studied Industrial Engineering at the TU Berlin and the University of British Columbia, Canada. He received his doctorate from the TU Berlin in 1994. He then worked as an international consultant for Kienbaum Development Services GmbH Düsseldorf, the EU Commission and as a freelance consultant and management trainer in the fields of marketing, international marketing and intercultural communication.

"With the passing of Prof. Dr. Christian Schuchardt, we are losing a wonderful colleague and friend with tireless dedication and great passion for teaching, who was highly respected and appreciated by both faculty and students. I also had the honor of working successfully with him for 16 years on the IGC Board," said Ramón Spiecker, Managing Director of IGC.

Prfo. Dr. Christian Schuchardt leaves a huge void and will be greatly missed by all of us. What remains are the many memories that fill us with great respect and gratitude. They are the bridge that connects us beyond death.
