FIT@HSB: The Career Program for Internationals

HSB Hochschule Bremen – City University of Applied Sciences (HSB), to which IGC belongs, places a special emphasis on internationality. The “FIT@HSB” program supports international students and graduates in their academic and professional careers. Funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMBF), the program provides tailored services to guide you throughout your educational journey and help you succeed in your studies and subsequently launch a successful career in Germany.


FIT@HSB includes a wide range of courses, counseling services, and networking activities:
 

  • Language and intercultural training
  • Academic skills for successful study in Germany
  • Academic and career counseling before and during your studies
  • Support in developing career goals
  • Information, podcasts, and workshops on job search strategies
  • Mentoring and networking activities
  • Events with companies
  • International Campus Life Sociocultural activities

Mentoring Program

Take advantage of the Mentoring Program's valuable network connecting the university, the business community, and international talent! The program provides support, guidance, and inspiration for launching your career and developing your future by connecting you with dedicated alumni and representatives from Bremen-based companies. Over a period of three to six months, you’ll gain insights into various industries and engage in personal dialogue with an experienced specialist or manager.

Topics that can be discussed include:
 

  • Career development: professional orientation, goal setting, and career planning
  • Work culture: structures, processes, and informal rules in everyday professional life
  • Self-management: time and task organization
  • Leadership skills: requirements and understanding of roles
  • Networking: building and maintaining professional contacts
  • Communication: collaborating with colleagues and supervisors
  • Work-life balance: balancing professional and personal life

Career Consultation

FIT@HSB Program Coordinator Sana Arousse offers counseling appointments and open office hours on career guidance and CV check. Open office hours are Tuesdays from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm and Thursdays from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm. As an IGC graduate and native of Tunisia, she is familiar with the questions and challenges that international students and graduates face in Germany and is happy to help.
