In this blog post, we would like to introduce you to some of the most beautiful city destinations you can easily reach by train - within Germany and beyond.
Before we get started, here's some information about the Deutschlandsemesterticket, which is the basis for your rail travel as a student:
Deutschlandsemesterticket
As a student of the International Graduate Center - Hochschule Bremen you benefit from the new Deutschlandsemesterticket, which is available in Bremen since the winter semester 2024/2025. It is a personal ticket for public transportation. In contrast to the previous Semesterticket, which was only valid regionally, the new Semesterticket is now valid throughout Germany - regardless of federal state, transport association or fare zone. This is a great advantage for students, as it makes traveling throughout Germany much cheaper and less complicated. The cost of the Semesterticket Deutschland is currently 176.40 euros per semester (summer semester 2025) and is included in the semester fee.
Please note:
- The ticket is not valid on long-distance trains such as the ICE and IC.
- If you want to travel by train to another European country, you will need an additional ticket for the part of the journey in that country.
Tip:
Use the official Deutsche Bahn app - DB Navigator - for timetables and ticket reservations for train connections not covered by the Deutschlandsemesterticket.
