Barrier-free access

Barrier-free access

Last update: June 28th, 2025

We endeavor to make this website or mobile application accessible. The declaration on accessibility is required by the Bremen Disability Equality Act. The technical requirements for accessibility are set out in BITV 2.0.

This declaration on digital accessibility applies to the website of the International Graduate Center of Hochschule Bremen City University of Applied Sciences published at https://www.graduatecenter.org .

Which areas are not barrier-free?

BITV 2.0 are essentially fulfilled.

Incompatibility with BITV 2.0

Sections that are not or not yet barrier-free:

1) PDF and Word files

Description: Most PDF and Word documents are not available in an accessible version.

Measures: When new PDF and Word files are created by the central editorial team, attention is paid to accessibility. If we receive PDFs from third parties and notice that they are not accessible, we point this out to them and, if possible, offer an accessible alternative as hypertext directly on the website.

2) Lack of audio description and subtitles

Description: Some audios and videos do not yet have audio descriptions or subtitles.

Measures: Audio descriptions and subtitles are gradually being added. When producing new audios and videos, the creation of audio descriptions and subtitles is planned. Where possible, videos are made available on YouTube, where automatically generated subtitles are available.

3) Missing alternative texts

Description: It cannot be ruled out that alternative texts for some graphics or images are missing or not meaningful.

Measures: The importance and use of alternative texts is part of the IGC's internal editorial training.

When was the accessibility statement created?

This declaration was revised on 28.06.2025.
