On June 29, 2026, the dMAT (Digital Master Test) has been introduced by the German government as a new, additional component in the APS  process for Indian graduates with bachelor degrees in selected areas who applying for a master’s program in Germany for the summer intake 2027.

The good news: Indian students can apply to IGC without dMAT for the current winter term 2026 — dMAT is required in selected areas starting in the summer term 2027. If your APS was issued before June 29, 2026 or your bachelor’s degree is not on the affected list, you are not subject to the new regulation.

We answer all your questions in our dMAT FAQ!

General information: You do not need an APS certificate for the first step of the IGC application and admission process. We will process your application and admit you without this certificate, if you meet all requirements. As an admitted student, you will be able to apply for the APS certificate in time, once you have secured your place. To secure your place at IGC, simply make a €2,000 deposit as soon as you receive your admission from us. Please note that you will need the APS certificate for the visa appointment with the German Embassy or VFS. You cannot attend without it.

Due to the current situation we suggest to start the APS process as soon as you received your IGC admission letter.
