Here is what our Alumni say about the MES program:

"To sum up, the knowledge and expertise acquired through the Master has provided me with a sound basis for collaborating in any private or public institution in Mexico or in Europe. I am able to give input in the design and/or definition of public or private policies, programmes and projects. Moreover, I will also be able to contribute to the development of research in European matters in my home university or in any other research institute. The Master in European Studies has started to prove to be successful for my career since I have now the opportunity to do an internship for six months in the Technology Transfer Zentrum-Bremerhaven (www.ttz-bremerhaven.de), where multidisciplinary and multicultural teams develop projects in the field of Environment and Biotechnology with partners around the world, and submit them to the European Commission and other international institutions in order to get funds to implement them. This will be the best opportunity for me to apply the knowledge gained and to have experience in developing international projects and applying for funds in the EU, which will be very helpful for me when working for my country."(Marisol Oropeza, Mexico, MES graduate 04/05)

"When I came to Hochschule Bremen from Turkey, I had a very clear objective in my mind: To take a firm step towards a career in research, following my bachelor in management. Indeed, I found everything here necessary to accomplish my objective. As a student of MES, I attended a challenging program well balanced between theory and practice. I developed the skills of critical thinking, scientific questioning and independent work, applied on a diverse range of topics in European context. And now I can better realize the significance of the skills and knowledge I obtained in MES, as I work on my doctoral research in Germany." (Murat Serdaroglu, Turkey, MES graduate 03/04)

"I graduated from the MES programme in 2001 and did an internship at the Bremen Representation Office to the European Union in Brussels. After that I studied NGO Development Policy at the University of Bremen. Today I work as an International Sales Manager at IPS-GmbH, Bremen, Germany and give volunteer services to the Red Cross and various international NGOs in fund raising.

Studying MES at HS-Bremen was a magnificent opportunity for me to expand my vision. It helped me to ameliorate international understanding and cooperation in all phases of life. I truly felt as if MES was my home with friendly, educated and accommodating local and international staff and faculty, whom you can count on if you have problems. If you are searching to develop your career in business, history, law & political or non profit environment then do study MES at HS-Bremen. This is definitely the place to get a remunerating education in different perspectives. In fact, having had a rewarding experience in MES, today I and many other friends are on various managerial positions in different parts of the world. In short, whenever we want something to be changed, we actually want it to develop towards perfection. In MES we experienced development of our vision, and we learned how to develop our career internationally". (Saadia Khatoon, Pakistan, MES 2000/2001)

"Half British and half Belgian, or how to combine Belgian consensus (and chocolate) with British insular creative "(non)-business" models. Impossible? Never mind! I am what I feel: European. After I graduated from Sheffield University in Geography in 1993, I worked in several countries including Germany, France, Italy and China. My professional background was mainly in teaching and project montoring in the field of Higher Education. I started my Masters in European Studies at Bremen Hochschule in 2003 and graduated in September 2004. Since then, I have been working at the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva as a project-coordinator in International training (www.ebu.ch/training), where we set up training programmes for Media professionals." (Nathalie Cordonnier, MES graduate 03/04)

Václav Kaplan studied the postgraduate international study program Master of European Studies at Hochschule Bremen in 2000/2001 after his graduation at the Silesian University in Karviná and at the University of Economics in Prague (Business Management). He worked as Operational Manager in a machinery company in Bad Düben (Saxony, Germany) and as Project Assistant for a consultant company on the area of town renovation in Ludwigslust (Mecklenburg, Germany). Since 2003 he works for the Baltic Sea Region INTERREG IIIB Joint Secretariat in Rostock as a Financial Manager. (Vaclav Kaplan, Czech Republic, MES 2000/2001)

I attended the MES program in 2004/05 and I can confirm that this has definitively been an enriching experience for me. Coming from a business background, the Master in European Studies has enabled me to widen my perspective since it offers a unique combination of European politics, European law and European private management. Moreover, I consider that gaining an insight in the functioning of the European Union represents a real key competency in nowadays, since nobody can deny the great influence of the European institutions on companies and organizations. But beside these rational motivations, the MES program additionally presents a perfect opportunity for all students that wish to study in a really international environment! You will have classes in English language only (quite rare for Master programs in Germany) and you will study with people from all over the world – can you think of a better occasion to boost your intercultural competencies?!? Working now as a trainee in the field of exports at ThyssenKrupp Automotive in Paris, I can honestly say that my experiences acquired throughout this master are still helping me in my daily work today. In deed, this year has widened my perspective and has prepared me to work with people of different cultural backgrounds. (Kristina Weimann, MES Graduate 2005)
