IBSA Certificate of Excellence 

for Sven Hopstaken 

We have the special pleasure of announcing that on the occasion of this year’s graduation ceremony, Sven Hopstaken from the Netherlands has been awarded with the IBSA Certificate of Excellence as the best student of his class in the International Master of Business Administration in the summer semester 2010. 

Sven Hopstaken had started the dual-degree program with the core modules at IBSA-partner, the University of Valencia and continued the one-year master’s course in the specialization “International Entrepreneurship” with the Hochschule Bremen University of Applied Sciences. 

His master’s thesis about “durable energy and the influence of governments” has been marked with the highest grade of 1,0. 

After concluding on the facts from literature Sven investigated the variations between several countries within the EU, and the different policies that are used by the national governments. Basing on the theoretical background from various economists and calculations on the output of CO2, production and consumption of energy, he answered the question on the economical issue: How should nations turn their energy market around towards a sustainable and durable one? 

He created a step-by-step model with suggestions for every phase an energy market goes through. It is a guideline that can be used by any country to reach a fully durable energy market.
