European Projects and Seminars

- Expert Seminar "The Future of Europe" (April 23-24, 2010) Prof. Lehmann and MES alumni.
The Master in European Studies program is trying to make the EU come alive: we organise lectures, seminars and conferences and become involved in EU projects together with several European partners. In the past years, we successfully applied for a number of European programs, including Socrates, Jean Monnet, Interreg III/ Hansepassage and more. In addition, the MES lectures series invites well-known speakers to come to the classroom and talk to our students.
For many years now, the Master in European Studies program has been organizing the European network of Master programs in European public and private management: Taurus. The network keeps growing, in 2008/9 the Metropolitan University Prague and the University of Gdansk (Department of Economics), Poland, have joined the network. In addition, we are strengthening our ties overseas. The University of Rashastan (Department of European Language, Literature and Culture Studies)in Jaipur, India, has imported our program and started to offer an MES program. In 2008, our course director, Prof. Dr. Friedrich Lehmann spent 4 weeks as a DAAD scholar in Jaipur. In cooperation with Hochschule Bremen, the University of Manipal (Manipal Centre for European Studies) has successfully applied for funds to start an EU Center in India, we look forward to a number of joint actitivities!
Our latest conference looked at career opportunities for European Studies students and gathered more than a 100 lecturers, guests and students at the House of Science.
In 2010, we organized the conference "Future of Europe" (April 23-24, 2010). On the occasion of the MES 10 year anniversary, European experts discussed political and economic future developments. The conference also saw a reunion of MES alumni from the past 10 years.
Our past conferences include the international conference "The EU in a global perspective: intercultural dialogue across three continents" funded by the EU/ Jean Monnet and organized together with the EuropaPunkt Bremen which took place in Bremen in May 2008. It united more than 100 professionals, lecturers, researchers and graduate students from the U.S., Germany, Poland, China, India, England, Latvia and the Ukraine. The conference took place in the House of Science in Bremen. A CD Rom featuring the conference contribution is available from us.
In November 2007, the first Alumni expert seminar "Globalization and the EU: How Europe fights global warming, saves jobs and protects social security" (Nov. 30th - Dec.1, 2007) proved to be a big success. The seminar was open to all alumni of Hochschule Bremen and anyone interested in European affairs.
